Define the outcome
Enquiries, bookings, calls. Not impressions, not followers.
Usually a measurement problem and an ownership problem wearing the same coat.
If you cannot tell what your marketing is doing, it is rarely because the data does not exist. It is because nothing is set up to answer the question, and nobody internally has the time or remit to ask it properly.
The fix is unglamorous: decide what a lead is worth, make sure every route to contact is actually tracked, and get one person accountable for reading it monthly.
Enquiries, bookings, calls. Not impressions, not followers.
Phone taps and WhatsApp messages convert more than forms in many businesses, and are usually untracked.
In Ireland that means consent mode and defaults denied, or your data is both wrong and non-compliant.
A short report somebody actually reads beats a dashboard nobody opens.
The point of measuring. Most spend has one channel quietly carrying it.
Not the agency. Someone on your side.
Perfectly is not. Usefully is. You will not get a clean line from impression to sale, but you can absolutely tell which channels produce enquiries and which produce traffic, and that is the decision you actually need.
Agency reporting tends to measure the agency's work. That is not dishonest, it is just a different question to whether the spend is producing business. Both are worth having.
Tell us what is happening. If the answer is simple, we will just tell you what it is.
